Western Force Rugby Clinic

Today the some of the Western Force Rugby team visitied South Newman primry. Room 8 was very lucky to have some time with the boys, learning skills, playing games and getting posters and flags signed. Miss Chellew liked the boys too! We are hoping to play more rugby in Room 8 soon.

Paper Mache

On Tuesday 2011-11-08 room 8 made paper mashie and it was messy.Patrik.Wethers Nic.Mills and Hayden. Warden got in trouble for flicking yucky glue every where, and giving everyone hand shakes, when their hands had the glue on them.Rebekah made Earth and I made Earth how is that going to work. Chantelle and Zahra made Satern. Earth is a challenge to paint thats why I chose it.

Swimming Lessons

Room 8 have been doing swimming lessons. It has been lots of fun. Aaliyah didn’t bring her form in in time so she isn’t going to swim. The first week of swimming Mrs Mc master was teaching us. Jennifer is in my group. We are doing level 5-6.we leave ten minutes before recess starts. We also have lots of fun.

Today is Roald Dahl's birthday

 

We have been reading Roald Dahl's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "Matilda". Today was Roald Dahl's birthday. We made a scrumptious fudge cake together and tried some other treats then named them. We all tried to guess the amount of jelly beans in the jar- Patrick and Jake won. We battled it out against other groups in a Roald Dahl quiz.

Mine Trip

On Wednesday the 24 of august we went to the mine

we went to the visters centre after that then we went on a bus . We had to get a yellow vest on some goggles and a hard hat.When we got on the bus they told us info about the mine and funny jokes. We went up and down some hills when we got out we where on a lookout. There where some parts of trucks there and there was a telescope. When we got back in the bus we went to a place where you can go on a huge truck

And we got free water and a bag. the bag has iron ore samples,

A pen, and a hat then we went back to school.

The Chocolate Game

Today we played the chocolate game and it was super fun! But we didn’t play with gloves we played with a hat and a scarf. We wraped the scarf around us twice and we didn’t eat the ones we cut up instead we sheared them out. We got four each and we put them in a tissue. We had a dice and we roll the dice and end every time we roll a six we would cut up the chocolate.

Life and Living- Science

This term we are studying Life and Living as part of our Science program. We have been enjoying our worm farm, growing our own seeds, looking at parts of plants, cool experiments and our teacher has so much more planned.

Police Horses

In time for Fortescue weekend- which is Newman's own public holiday weekend, the WA Mounted Police came to visit us at South Newman PS. We got to hear all about their job, the horses and we even got to watch them race and pat the horses.

Our worm farm

Our new worms

On the 29 of July we got 1 thousand worms. I   helped get the worms from the office the worms where very heavy and we helped put the worms in. I held one there so slimy and cute the worm that I held fell out of my hand into there worm farm. We feed the worm’s egg shell, tea bags, leftovers, vacume dust, tissues, straw, hair, meat, lawn clippings, manure and vegetables scraps. Did you know that all the scraps turn into fertilizer for the garden worms are very good pets! Even for the envierment.

NAIDOC Day

On NADOC day we went to the wall and we painted our hand and printed it on the wall. Then we went to the art room and played with the puppets and we patted the dinosaur puppet and we had lots of fun. Then we made damper it was so sticky it stuck to me after that we let off balloons they went every where we went back to class. Then it was luch.We had a bun and a sausage and we got a bag with an apple and sultanas. The best part on NADOC day was only year 3s where allowed seconds. We had a fun day!

Our Assembly

Today was a very special day for room 8 because it was our assembly, so we had to be early. I came at 7.30.  Wile we waited everyone got dressed, there were cork hats, kangaroo suits, and koalas. When we walked out we had to walk nicely and sit down in our spots, but we had to not go past the chalk line. The song we are doing is by Rolf Harris, Tie me kangaroo down sport. Nic played the wobble board, Jordyne played the clapper thingy and Rhys played the toilet seat. After we finished our song Mrs Wallace and Miss Dix will give out the awards. It was very exciting for me because I won a award!

Lapathon

24 June 2011

We had the Lapathon where we had to run around the whole entire oval and the year 2’s to kindys had to run around a small circle in the middle of the oval. All of the teachers were there as well. Miss Dix went for a walk as well as other teachers. Miss Chellew went around the oval with the year 3’s. She ran around with the year 2’s as well and it was fun.

Smoothie making

24 June 2011

We made smoothes and we got to choose out of chocolate, banana and strawberry.

And there were 10 chocolates and 4 strawberries  and 8 children choose banana and we helped Miss Chellew do it. We  blew bubbles and they got really big, we got to drink it and it was nice it was the nicest smoothie I have ever had and one of them exploded!

Kangaroo Jack in Room 8

Everyone in Room 8 gets to have a turn with Kangaroo Jack for  the  weekend. I got to have a turn and we watched TV, played, slept and it was  fun.

Thumper's Visit

               The 10^th  June 2011   

On the 10 of June 2011 we got a visit from Thumper the rabbit. He is a boy. The colour of Thumper is a blonde and as it gets down to Thumpers tummy it gets a bit darker. Thumper is Miss Holden’s bunny. Thumper has ears like the Basset hound the only different thing is Thumper has a really light blonde with tiny peaces of blonde mixed with brown.            I think Thumper likes Jack the best because Thumper just did not move away from Jack! But everyone got a pat. Something funny for me was when Thumper started nibbling Zahra’s shoe!!!
